On Wednesday December 14, 2022, the American Freedom Fund after a two-year hiatus, due to the pandemic, returned with their Manhattans, Martinis & Mistletoe event. This year was their 7th Annual Veteran Awards Gala. The Gala returned in grand style at a new venue – The Mayflower Hotel in downtown D.C. in their Grand Ballroom. Another notable change was the entertainment which was provided by the high energy group Sound Connection. Maryland Chapter Gold Star Moms Joy Goode and Yvonne Green were assigned to checking in the guests which started at 6:30 and ended at 8:45 p.m. Also assisting the Moms this year was Blue Star Mom Johnnie Pearson and our debonair Gold Star Dads Greg Goode & Garry Green Sr who graciously handled wristband duty. The Gala added many amenities to this year’s event which included a photo booth, a 360 machine and of course a spacious dance floor. A magical time was enjoyed by all.
