Once again, Maryland Gold Star Mothers were invited to volunteer at the Warrior Events Fall Tailgate Party at the United States Naval Academy football game. Janice Chance, Paula Davis, Theresa Karlson, Stephanie White, Donna Robinson, Joy Goode, Khadidja Keita and Gold Star siblings Sara Keita and Jenine Melton provided support by selling t-shirts and serving guests delicious food. Live entertainment was provided by One Step Down (part of We’re Not Handsome band) and we met some wonderful soldiers from Walter Reed Army Medical Center who also sang a few songs. The Naval Academy hosted USF and kept ahead of the helm throughout the first quarter. Unfortunately, Navy lost 30 to 44.
Warrior Events provides veterans and their families the opportunity to engage with and become pillars in their community following military service. They also support Gold Star families by connecting them to veterans within the community. We are very thankful to Paige Havens, Bob Saunders and John O’Leary for their continued support and friendship.
