A Veterans Benefits Fair was held at the Randallstown Community Center on July 22, 2026. The fair gave veterans an opportunity to receive in-person assistance with claims, VA health care enrollment, resource information, and other benefit-related matters.
The event was sponsored by the Chesapeake Veterans Alliance, which includes the Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families, the VA Maryland Health Care System, and the Baltimore Regional Office of the Veterans Benefits Administration, in partnership with the Baltimore County Veterans Commission.
Mrs. Kenya Griffin, Public and Community Relations, VA Maryland Health Care System, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, invited volunteers from the Baltimore VA Medical Center to support the event. Mr. Rodney Morris, U.S. Army veteran; Ms. Christine Lumley, retired U.S. Army veteran; and Mrs. Janice Chance were given the opportunity to serve.
Rodney, Christine, and Janice are regularly scheduled volunteers at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. Janice also serves as the Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service Representative for the American Gold Star Mothers Maryland Chapter. Janice served as a greeter, helped check in veterans, and directed them to the appropriate areas for scheduled claims appointments. Other volunteers assisted with additional duties throughout the fair.
Mr. Edward Rothstein, Colonel, U.S. Army (Ret.), Secretary of the Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families, attended the event and spent significant time speaking with veterans. Many veterans expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet with representatives in person and receive a variety of resource information. Mr. Julian Jones Jr., Baltimore County Councilman for the 4th District, was also in attendance and spent time interacting with veterans and Maryland veterans resource organizations. The event was well attended.
