14th Annual Wounded Warriors Day on Bay Day August 15, 2026 Pasadena, Maryland

The Gold Star Mothers Maryland Chapter volunteered and were Commodore Sponsors at 14th Annual Wounded Warriors Day on The Bay event (WWDOTB) that was held on August 15, 2026, in Pasadena, Maryland. The event offered Wounded Warriors (WW) and their families a stress-free day on the Chesapeake Bay. Khadidja Keita and her daughter Sara Keita, Stephanie White, Donna Robinson, and Elsheba Kahn, represented the Maryland Gold Star Mothers Chapter. There were many people who attended this event, including Wounded Warriors and their families, Vietnam Veterans, World War II Veterans, Captains, and volunteers. A special recognition and appreciation ceremony was held for the Wounded Warriors. The ceremony opened with the presentation of Colors, Katlyn Mitchell sang the National Anthem, and Brigadier General Jared D. Lake was the guest speaker. The Maryland Gold Star Mothers helped to present “Thank you for Your Service” plaques to the Wounded Warriors, who also received a ”In Appreciation for Your Service” challenge coin from TEK Systems, a gift card, and several other gifts. The Gold Star moms also received recognition during the ceremony. The children received school backpacks filled with supplies, and they were also treated to a variety of activities.

Immediately following the ceremony, Mission BBQ provided a delicious lunch for all participants and volunteers. After lunch, the WWs, their families and Gold Star moms were introduced to their assigned yacht, and captain boat owners who took them out on the Bay. Yacht owners, who are members of several local yacht clubs, volunteered their resources, time, and vessels. Once the WWs and Gold Star moms returned from their cruise, they were treated to a feast that included steamed crabs, a variety of foods, and beverages which was provided by McKinney’s Catering. Several donated items were raffled off. The fellowship was wonderful, the food was great, and the weather was delightful. It was a GREAT DAY ON THE BAY!
