Marine Sunset Parade Lincoln Memorial, Washington, DC July 18, 2023

On July 18, 2023, The Deputy of Commandant for Aviation Warrior Lt. General Michael and Mrs. Michael Cederholm invited Maryland Gold Star Mothers Janice Chance, Paula Davis, and Donna Robinson to the Sunset Parade.  The guest of honor was the Honorable Brooks D. Tucker, Board Member, Community Cares.  In addition, the moms were invited to a reception that preceded the parade at the Women in the Military Services for America Memorial.  During the Reception, the Gold Star Mothers were recognized by the Commandant.  The Sunset Parade was held at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.  The parade was an inspiring performance of music and precision marching that features “The Commandant’s Own” The United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, the Marine Corps Color Guard, and the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon.  The parade began with a demonstration performance by “The Commandant’s Own” Drum and Bugle Corps.  Followed by a march of the participating units, the advance of the national and Marine Corps color, the performance of the “Star Spangled Banner,” a demonstration drill by the U.S. Marine Silent Drill Platoon, and a pass in review for the guest of honor.  It concluded with “Taps“, the retirement of the colors to the trio section, and a march off.  Special Thanks to LTG Michael Cederholm for inviting us to attend this breathtaking performance by the U.S. Marine Corps.
