On Thursday, May 25, 2023, HUD held the Annual Memorial Day Ceremony to honor Fallen Heroes at their Headquarters in Washington, DC. The program theme was “Remembering the fallen, Honoring their loved ones”. Gold Star Wives along with Gold Star Mothers, Paula Davis, Stephanie White, and Bishundat Basmattie were in attendance. After the presentation of Colors from The Military District of Washington Joint Forces Ceremonial Color Guard, and a wonderful speech from Dr. Reggie Hubbard, United States Navy, Retired, the Gold Star Mothers and Wives participated in the Memorial Wreath Ceremony. A special certificate, acknowledging Specialist Timothy Echols military service during the Korean War was presented to Gold Star Mother Paula Davis. She accepted the certificate for Gold Star Family member Samuel Hines. Taps was played by Eric Larson, Bugles Across America.
