The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Veterans Assistance Committee invited the Gold Star Mother’s Maryland Chapter Inc. President and Chaplain, Janice Chance and her daughter, Jenine Melton, a former U.S. Army Captain and Iraqi war veteran, to serve as the keynote speakers for their virtual 2023 Memorial Day Observance, “Continuing the Legacy: A Gold Star Story”. Janice and Jenine shared about their family’s fallen hero, Captain Jesse Melton III USMC, and what their family has done and continues to do honor his legacy of service. In honor of their loved one’s legacy of service, they committed their lives to serving our active-duty service members, veterans, and the families of our fallen heroes through service. There were 110 employees from the CMS workforce in attendance for this special Memorial Day event. They reminded employees to never forget the selfless service and sacrifice of our fallen heroes.
