Chuck Ritz, creator of The Hope and Peace Foundation, the Maryland 9/11Rolling Memorial, and America’s 9/11 Living Classroom invited once again Maryland Gold Star Mothers to be Honorary Ride Captains in the 12th Annual 9/11 Memorial Ride. The following moms represented the MD Chapter Janice Chance, Gloria Crothers, Paula Davis, Yvonne Green, Tracy Miller, and Donna Robinson. It was also the 15th anniversary of the day that Janice’s son Captain Jesse Melton III USMC made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Afghanistan, as well as Gold Star Mom Donna Robinson’s birthday. They both chose to continue the legacy of their son’s selfless service and sacrifice. They joined Chuck and a group of Patriots which included several veterans and firefighters. 2,977 Flags were placed along Putty Hill Road to represent our fellow Americans who were killed during the 9/11 attacks. Flags were also placed on a hill located in the Putty Hill shopping center named “The Field of Honor” in honor of the 162 Maryland military service members (HEROES) who made the ultimate sacrifice since the start of the “War on Terror”. The ride included beautiful scenery of Harford and Baltimore Counties. The Moms truly enjoyed the wind blowing through their helmets as they rolled down the countryside. The moms are grateful to Chuck and many other patriots for their efforts and commitment to do all that they are able to remind U.S citizens to NEVER FORGET. TO HONOR & REMEMBER our Fallen Heroes and their families. FREEDOM IS NOT FREE! The saying is true WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE!
