Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training invited all Veterans, families and community members to connect, celebrate and give back to the community by having a cookout of hot dogs, hamburgers, chili, coleslaw and delicious cake. The center also raffled off several donated gifts, including an instant pot, Keurig machine and other items.
Maryland Chapter members Janice Chance, Donna Robinson, Joy Goode and Theresa Karlson volunteered to help serve food to the MCVETs residents and enjoyed conversations with these Heroes and other volunteers. Donna, Joy and Janice were able to help cut sheet cakes that had the armed services logo with respective Veterans who served in these branches. Ironically, Donna was paired with an Army Veteran who also served with the 508th Infantry Regiment, the same unit as Donna’s son.
We also presented 20 – $10 gift certificates to the Executive Director, Misty Bruce so that she could distribute them to the residents. These gift certificates were given to the Chapter from a grant that was given to our national organization – American Gold Star Mothers.
MCVETs is committed to offering a military-structured, seamless continuum of services that helps veterans in need transition from dependent to independent living.
