Gold Star Mother Maryland Chapter members Janice Chance, Donna Robinson and Joy Goode were invited to attend and participate in the Annual Garrison Forest Cemetery Memorial Day Program. Mr. Gilbert Barker, Past Chairman Catholic War Veteran emceed the program. Prior to the start of the program, the Baltimore City Pipe Band played several patriotic and inspirational songs that helped to set the tone for the program. The Franklin High School J. R.O.T.C. presented the colors. After the Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem and Invocation, Mr. Barker read Governor Wes Moore’s Memorial Day Proclamation. COL (Ret) Erwin Burtnick US was the keynote speaker. Following the keynote speaker several other guest gave remarks which included Joy Goode and Janice Chance. They gave remarks and briefly shared about their family’s hero. After the remarks Donna, Janice and Joy participated in the laying of the Gold Star Wreath. A member of the Purple Heart Organization also laid their Wreath. The Ceremony was followed by a 21 gun salute, playing of TAPS by Dr. John Pursell, SMSgt USAF (Ret) and the Benediction was given by Rabbi Chesky Tenebaum. As usual it was a great program that provided an opportunity for the Gold Star Mothers and other attendees to Honor, Remember and Salute our country’s Heroes.
