AUSA Annual Golf Tournament – August 5, 2021

Association of the United States Army (AUSA) MG Harry Greene Aberdeen Chapter Golf Tournament

Bulle Rock Golf Course

Havre de Grace, MD

August 5, 2021

The Gold Star Mothers Maryland Chapter members were invited to volunteer once again at the Association of the United States Army’s (AUSA) annual fundraiser golf tournament.   The tournament was held at the Bulle Rock Golf course.

The following moms represented the Maryland Chapter – Stephanie White, who is currently the only Maryland Chapter gold star mom that is a veteran, Synthia Carter, Yvonne Green, Janice Chance, and Donna Robinson.   The Moms performed a variety of duties eg., welcomed and checked-in the golfers, helped with separating raffle tickets, and setting up the designated room for lunch and the awards ceremony.

The Gold Star Mothers mission in short is to “HONOR THROUGH SERVICE”.  Therefore, they are always grateful for the opportunities to serve and to support veterans, those currently serving and working in our communities.

Prior to the start of the tournament, the leaders held a short opening ceremony.  MG Harold “Harry” Greene for whom the Chapter was named, was Honored and Remembered.  The tournament was held on the anniversary of the day that MG Greene made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Afghanistan.  It was a wonderful tribute to MG Greene.  Mrs. Sue Myer, his widow attended the ceremony and participated in the golf tournament.   According to Mr. Robert Gutjahr, AUSA Chapter President there were approximately 132 golfers who participated.

AUSA supports soldiers, their families and the Army civilians, provides a voice for the Army, and honors those who have served…(www.AUSA.org).

The moms are looking forward to volunteering again at the next annual AUSA tournament.
