The Maryland Gold Star Mothers were invited by Emma Shaw, US Army Veteran, Veteran Connection Hub Coordinator, and Tyra Nelson, Veteran Connection Hub Workforce Coordinator to attend The US VETS Veterans Connection Hub Grand Opening in Washington DC, held on June 10, 2026. Following a delicious lunch, there was a ribbon cutting ceremony. One of the speakers was Ms. Patterson, The Executive Director. This organization is the largest nonprofit provider of housing, mental health, career and supportive services for homeless and at-risk veterans and their families according the 2025, How We Serve Report that was published by the US VETS organization. Their motto is “Serving Those Who Served”. The other US Veteran Hub locations are in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and Hawaii. Gold Star Moms, Stephanie White, Paula Davis and Basmattie Bishundat were among the guests attending the event.
