Unaccompanied Veterans Burial Ceremony Garrison Forest Cemetery Owings Mills, Maryland January 27, 2023

The Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs (MDDVA) Cemetery Program hosted three dignified burial ceremonies to honor and pay respect to unaccompanied veterans today 27 January 2023 at the Eastern Shore, Crownsville, and Garrison Forest Veterans Cemeteries.  An unaccompanied service means that the veteran’s family members would not be present at their burial service.  Veteran Service organizations, veterans, active-duty service members, local legislators, community organizations, as well as the general public were invited to attend.  Janice Chance and Donna Robinson represented the Maryland Chapter. Earl Ruff, Jr., Commandant of the Marine Corps League Baltimore Detachment # 565 joined the moms for the ceremony.  Maryland Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert Finn officiated the ceremony.  The following Veterans received Final Honors: Rank /Name/Service/Dates of Service

SGT William Taylor – U.S Air Force – 7/6/1972-7/5/1976

SGT John Hill – U. S Army – 5/5/1966-5/27/1969

The ceremony was well attended.  The Gold Star Mothers are committed to continue to honor and remember our Heroes.  We will never forget their selfless service and sacrifice!!
