The Maryland Chapter was disappointed that they were unable to assist with serving dinner at the MCVET homeless shelter due to Coronavirus restrictions. However, they were overjoyed when they learned from Ms. Cereta Spencer, Director of Development that they could donate desserts since the meal was already covered.
The MD Chapter donated 12 dozen Bundtinis (bite sized Bundt cakes) that were purchased from Nothing Bundt Cakes located on Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills, Maryland. After the owner was made aware that the desserts were being donated for the Pre Thanksgiving dinner, she donated a few extra dozens.
Gold Star mothers Maria Chambers and Janice Chance had the pleasure to deliver the Bundtinis to MCVET on behalf of The MD Chapter. After the moms were warmly greeted and screened they were escorted to the dining area. They were met and thanked for the donation by Ms. Spencer, other staff members, but most importantly they were also thanked by a few of the hero residents that were present.
The moms expressed their thanks to the veterans for their service. Hopefully, next year the Covid pandemic will soon end so that the moms and other volunteers can once again return to serve at the Pre Thanksgiving dinner and to support the residents at other events throughout the year.
