Annual Memorial Day Ceremony Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens Timonium, MD May 27, 2024

On Monday, May 27, 2024, Gold Star Mothers and Fathers, families, and the community were invited to attend the Annual Memorial Day ceremony at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. Janice Chance, Marie Moudry, Mary Wiley, and Stephanie White represented the Maryland Gold Star Mothers Maryland Chapter. Gold Star Mother Mrs. Stephanie White, Mother of Private First-Class Robert Leon White, EOW 7/29/02, provided a memorial address briefly sharing about her family’s hero. Governor Wes Moore gave the Memorial Address.  Other participants included keynote speaker, Colonel Louis P. Hawkins, Commander 29th Expeditionary Combat Brigade National Guard. Music was provided by the 229th Army Band, Dundalk Sweet Adelines, and bagpiper Robert McCurdy. The opening procession included the Maryland National Guard Honor Guard Color Team, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion USMCR, Historic Elkridge Young Marines, Nam Knights of America Motorcycle Club, and the Knights of Columbus O’Neill Council #4011. Alan Walden served as MC.  Families of those killed in action since last Memorial Day were presented with a replica of the memorial which depicts a woman embracing a folded flag.  Those honored were: A1C Russell Griffith, A1C Makai Cummings, Capt. John Stevens, Spc Izaiah Sneed, SA Juan Soriano, SPC Edgar Allen, SSGT Lacy O’Neill, and Po1 Christopher Chambers. Marie Moudry accepted on behalf of the Griffith family.  Janice Chance accepted a plaque on behalf of the Allen family. Janice did 3 media interviews for FOX 45 Television.  Janice, Marie, Stephanie and Mary were blessed to meet and provide comfort to the families and friends of those honored this year. They also met with many veterans and active-duty service members and their families. It was a truly beautiful and moving ceremony.
