Send Me Outdoors Third Annual Charity Banquet & Golf Tournament

On October 22, 2025, Maryland Gold Star Mothers, Stephanie White and Theresa Karlson attended a Pre-Tournament Banquet that was sponsored by Send Me Outdoors, a Veterans Service Organization at The Cannon Club Golf Course in Lothian, Maryland. A picture frame containing Gold Star Families and their loved ones’ pictures and bios were at the tables. Theresa was able to share about The Maryland Gold Star Mothers organization. Stephanie and Theresa also shared about their sons.
On the next day, bright and early, golfers gathered to enjoy a beautiful sunny day of golf. Theresa was joined by Basmattie Bishundat as they assisted with stuffing swag bags. At every golf tournament, a representative from the group is offered the opportunity to shoot off the cannon to start the tournament. Gold Star Mother Tracy Taylor from Massachusetts was given this honor. Gold Star Families’ fallen hero’s pictures and bios were placed at each of the 18 holes.
Executive Director Benjamin Willhite is one of the co-founders of Send Me Outdoors, which provides opportunities for active-duty military, first responders and Veterans to develop strong social connections while enhancing their physical, mental and emotional well-being through acts of service and activities in an outdoor setting. The Maryland Chapter sponsored a Veterans foursome for the tournament, and we look forward to supporting future events.
