TRAVIS MANION FOUNDATION “BACK TO SCHOOL” EVENT SEED School of Washington, DC August 10, 2024

The Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) was invited by Rachel Howard, a Starbucks employee to join several other nonprofit organizations to participate in one of their “Back to School” Community events.  Rachel is also a TMF Spartan and Navy spouse.  Grace Shike, Manager Mid-Atlantic Region TMF invited Maryland Chapter moms and other members of their team to volunteer at the event.   Janice Chance represented the MD Chapter.  She is also a TMF Character Does Matter Mentor.  Janice joined Grace and five TMF volunteers who are veterans of the U.S Armed Forces.

TMF donated 70 back packs that were distributed during the event and also set up a display table.  The volunteers interacted with the children and parents.  They provided information about TMF, their mission and about leading with their Character strengths.   The Main focus was on the character of leadership.  Many of the youth signed the “I AM A LEADER” Poster.  The children were also given TMF Tote bags, key chains, stickers and refrigerator magnets.  The volunteers also played catch the ball with some of the children. There was much laugher and many smiles as the children visited the display tables, posed with the Paw Patrol Pals and participated in games.  Although it was a hot day, it did not prevent the children from having fun.
