The Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) Annapolis Spartans Chapter led by Buzz Keel & Michael Desmond, kicked off their first event to help maintain the grounds of the Gold Star Family’s Monument in partnership with the Hershel “Woody” Williams Medal of Honor Foundation. This event was the launching of their Caretaker Program. The program’s goal is to beautify and care for Gold Star family memorial monuments through local engagement and community support while honoring the legacies of our American Heroes that died during their military service or died as a result of their service, or are missing in action.
Janice Chance, Chaplain Gold Star Mothers Maryland Chapter joined TMF leaders, TMF Spartan volunteers, and other community service organization volunteers which included young children and teens. Their parents and others seized the opportunity to encourage, educate and thank them. It is always touching to see children, our future leaders involved in community service projects. Also, volunteering were George Owings III, Secretary of Maryland’s Veterans Affairs and Chad Graham, President & Chief Executive Officer of the Woody Williams Foundation. Chad is the grandson of Mr. Hershel “Woody” Williams.
Many volunteers remarked how much fun they had as they worked together to complete the mission. The volunteers did an outstanding job of cleaning the monument and beautifying the grounds. WOW! What an Amazing Transformation! KUDOS to the TMF leaders and volunteers. #HONOR THROUGH SERVICE #Community Serving Together.
