Maryland Chapter Moms Janice Chance and Donna Robinson joined the Honor Flight Team, service members of the U.S. Air Force, U. S Navy, Veterans and patriots at the Baltimore/ Washington International Thurgood Marshal airport to welcome and greet Veterans and 20 Gold Star Families from Nevada, three Vietnam Veterans and seven other veterans.
The Veterans and Gold Star families expressed their appreciation as the Moms and other patriots greeted them, gave hugs and rendered hand salutes. There were several gold star family members and veterans that were moved to tears as they were being showered with expressions of appreciation and hugs.
Mr. George Hayes a Vietnam Veteran was among the welcome team. He told his family that he wanted to be present to participate in welcoming his fellow veterans and gold star families to BWI and to visit the Vietnam Memorial. Prior to the arrival of the Nevada group, the Honor Flight team, service members, Gold Star moms and other patriots surprised Mr. Hayes with a Special Welcome Home Moment. The passengers that were waiting for their flights also joined the group with the “Welcome Home” surprise. Mr. Hayes and his family expressed their appreciation and Mr. Hayes face lit up like a bright light. Mr. Hayes’ wish of visiting the Vietnam wall was also fulfilled on Friday December 17, 2021.
The MD Chapter Moms consider it an honor to join the BWI Honor Flight team, service members and other patriots in welcoming our American Heroes and fellow Gold Star families to Maryland and look forward to participating in future scheduled Honor Flights.
