20th Annual Ride Allegheny (RA) & Operation Second Chance (OSC) Fundraiser Event Gaithersburg, MD October 5, 2025

Gold Star Mothers Maryland Chapter members were invited by Ms. Cindy McGrew, Founder/ CEO of OSC to join her team that included OSC’s VP Mr. Clark Wagner, biker’s family, friends and sponsors to participate in the 20th Annual RA’s fundraising special closing event.   Paula Davis, Janice Chance and Donna Robinson represented the MD Chapter. The moms joined the group in cheering for the riders as they crossed the finish line located at the Smokey Glen Farm.  After the ride, the moms seized the opportunity to thank the riders, interact with their families, sponsors, OSC leaders Clark Wagoner VP, Steve Rambo Treasurer and Chuck Christianson Board member.  Since 2005 OSC has been the recipient of funds raised by RA bikers.  They are committed to annual participation to raise funds for OSC to enable them to fulfill their mission of serving and supporting our country’s heroes, their families and Gold Star families. The RA fundraiser was a four-day 310-mile bicycle ride that began in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. There were 112 participating riders.  The first day, half the group rode to Ohiopyle, and the other half rode to Confluence. The following day they went to Cumberland and then Hagerstown, ending the ride at Smokey Glen Farm (SGF) on day four.   The culminating event was the RA’s program and picnic.  The Program was exciting.  The Ride Allegheny Organization celebrated their 25-year Anniversary. Every rider was presented with their 25th Year anniversary Challenge coin. The moms were also gifted with a challenge coin.  RA leaders Clark Wagner, Founder, Chris Marsh, Jamie Price and John Mahoney, gave remarks, presented awards to bikers, thanked the RA support team, sponsors, family, volunteers and everyone that contributed to RA’s successful Fundraiser Ride.  Cindy McGrew thanked the RA organization leaders, team riders, their families, sponsors, volunteers, sponsors.  She also recognized and thanked the Gold Star moms for their participation and continued service to our country’s heroes.

The program ended with the RA leader’s presentation of a check for $445,000.00 to Ms. McGrew.  The RA leaders and riders have raised over $ 7.4 million dollars for OSC, since 2005.  After the program a delicious BBQ dinner was provided after Gold Star Dad Charlton blessed the food.  The MD Chapter moms are looking forward to participating again next year.
