The Maryland Chapter of the Warrior Brotherhood Motorcycle Club (WBMC) held their 1st Poker Run fundraiser to honor five fallen veterans from Maryland. Their mission was to raise money to support their fellow veterans and to Honor selected Gold Star family members and their fallen hero. The ride started and ended at the VFW Aberdeen Post # 10028 located in Aberdeen, Maryland. Gold Star son Phillip Johnson accompanied the WBMC on their ride.
The WBMC displayed posters of each fallen hero that included their picture and information about them. The President, Sid Sakota, AKA Ghost, gave remarks honoring the heroes and Gold Star family members. Janice shared about the Gold Star Mothers organization and expressed thanks on behalf of the Maryland Chapter moms. Each family member spoke to the audience about their fallen hero. The following heroes were honored: Capt. Jesse Melton III, USMC, Gold Star Maryland Chapter mother Janice Chance and Stepfather Charlton Chance; SSgt Damion Campbell, US Army, Gold Star mother Donna Robinson; FT2 SS Keon A. Askew U.S Navy, Gold Star mother Joyce Goode; 1st Lieutenant Daniel Johnson, Gold Star Spouse Carmelita Johnson and son Phillip; TSgt Curtis Evan Eccleston, U.S. Air Force, Gold Star Aunt Sharon Loving and Gold Star grandmother Nancy Smith. The VFW provided a delicious BBQ meal. During the meal, the Gold Star moms seized the opportunity to meet and fellowship with the riders and other guests. The WBMC riders plan to honor fallen heroes annually. It was a wonderful event.
