Maryland Gold Star Mothers, Stephanie White, Joy Goode, Khadidja Keita, Paula Davis and Tracy Miller along with their guests attended the Towson University (TU) Military Appreciation Football Game on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Prior to the scheduled football game, The Fallen Tigers Scholarship Reception was held in honor of Sergeant Major Wardell Turner, his legacy lives on through the Wardell Turner Scholarship Endowment. The Fallen Tigers Scholarship Reception was also held in honor of Major Robert Marchanti, who is honored through The Robert J. Marchanti Endowed Scholarship. The Fallen Tigers Scholarship Reception was also held in honor of First Lieutenant James Saxon, whose memory is preserved through the James R. Saxon Memorial Scholarship. They played sports at Towson University. These men also made the ultimate sacrifice for their country while serving in US Military.
After the luncheon, Gold Star Families attended the football game from The Minnegan Room at The Johnny Unitas Stadium as The Towson Tigers hosted The Hampton Pirates. TU Leadership is committed to supporting the military, Gold Star families and keeping the legacy of Fallen Heroes alive. We had a wonderful day of remembrance and fellowship. The Towson Tigers won against The Hampton Pirates 27 – 10. It was a great day for a football game and honoring our military heroes.
