National Salute to Veterans Week February 9-15, 2025

The Maryland Chapter moms seized the opportunity to visit veterans at all three VA Medical Centers during their annual National Salute to Veterans Week.  The moms visited the Veterans at the Baltimore VA Hospital on February 10, Loch Raven Medical Center on February 12, and Perry Point Medical Center on February 13.

Maryland Gold Star Mothers, Janice Chance, Paula Davis, and Donna Robinson represented the MD Chapter and visited the Veterans at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. The Moms distributed gift bags, filled with a small Valentine Stuffed Teddy Bear, Large Print Word Search Books, Adult Coloring Books, Lip Balm, Comb, and Wheelchair Backpacks.

Maryland Gold Star Mothers, Janice Chance, Paula Davis, Theresa Karlson, and Donna Robinson represented the MD Chapter at the Loch Raven VA Medical Center.  The Moms were joined by Marine Corps League, Baltimore Detachment members Earl Ruff, Jr., Commandant; Marian James, Senior Vice Commandant and Raymond Vaughn, Junior Vice Commandant.  During the visit to the Loch Raven VA Medical Center, the Gold Star Moms along with the Marine Corps League members distributed the gift bags.  Marine Corps League member, Marian James provided her special, hand-crocheted blankets, and prayer shawls as well as handwritten thank you Valentine’s Day cards for the patients at the Loch Raven VA Medical Center.

Maryland Gold Star Mothers, Janice Chance, Paula Davis, and Donna Robinson represented the MD Chapter and distributed and visited the Veteran Patients at Perry Point VA Medical Center.

During the visit at all three Centers, the mothers rendered to the heroes what they lovingly refer to as their “Gold Star Mothers Hand Salute” which resulted in smiles, as they also responded by rendering a hand salute.  As the gift bags were distributed, the Veterans smiled as they expressed their thanks. As we presented the gift bags to each veteran, we had the opportunity to talk to them and thank them for their service. Our Heroes shared stories about their service and expressed their appreciation.  The healthcare staff were also thanked for the service that they provide to our Heroes. Their expressions of thanks and the smiles on their faces have been indelibly etched in our hearts and minds.  The Maryland Chapter Moms look forward to continuing to serve and support our Heroes. We continue the Legacy of our Children’s Service by honoring it through Service.
