Mission BBQ Gold Star Family’s Luncheon

Owings Mills, Maryland

September 28,2025

On Gold Star Mothers and Families Day, Mission BBQ founders Mr. Bill Kraus and Mr. Steve Newton honored Gold Star families at all their restaurant locations across the country. At the Owings Mills, Maryland location, General Manager Mr. Justin Black and his outstanding team hosted a luncheon to celebrate and support these families. The Maryland Chapter of Gold Star Mothers was represented by moms Donna Robinson, Janice Chance, and Joyce Goode. Janice was accompanied by her husband Charlton Chance (Stepdad), her son Joshua Melton, stepdaughter Laura Collier, grandchildren Jamir and Jalia Collier, and close friends Lennox and Avis Graham. Joyce Goode was joined by her husband Greg Goode, (Stepdad), two of their sons, and their granddaughter.

Mr. Black delivered an inspirational speech that deeply moved the attendees. Gold Star families and their guests received a warm welcome and VIP treatment throughout the event. A touching highlight of the luncheon gave the opportunity for family members to share stories and memories of their fallen heroes.

The mothers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Mission BBQ founders, Mr. Black, and the entire staff for their sincere hospitality, delicious food, and the many thoughtful gestures — including a Gold Star Heroes picture wall and a commemorative book featuring stories of each hero. They also praised the team for their continued and unwavering support of Gold Star families.

This event served not only as a tribute to fallen heroes but also as a reminder of the enduring strength and unity of the Gold Star community.
