Mother Nature smiled once more for this annual event. Every year, Chuck Ritz, founder of the Hope and Peace Foundation, invites the Maryland Gold Star Mothers to be Honorary Ride Captains. Maryland Gold Star Mothers Donna Robinson, Yvonne Green, Paula Davis, Joy Goode, Geraldine Pepper and Gloria Crothers with Jimmy Scarborough participated this year. Scott and Lynne Mallary, owners of Truckin4Troops, made sure the Moms and Gold Star Dad, Garry Green, arrived safely to the Darlington Volunteer Fire Station where the ride began. Before the riders put up their kick stands, 5-year-old Ms. Devon recited the Pledge of Allegiance. This year the ride brought over 550 riders from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. Gold Star Mothers were proud to attend this honorable event and we will never forget the sacrifices of those who the Nation lost that fateful day on September 11, 2001.
