The American Legion Post 60 invited the Gold Star Mothers – Maryland Chapter to participate in a Welcome Home dinner that hosted over 25 Veterans and their guardians. Janice Chance, Paula Davis, Theresa Karlson, Khadidja Keita, Donna Robinson, and Stephanie White represented the Maryland Chapter. They had the pleasure of greeting our heroes in the Flag line as they arrived via bus, along with American Legion Post 60 members, Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion. The Veterans were welcomed and cheered as they stepped off the bus and were escorted inside. The ALA Post 60 Auxiliary members and Gold Star Mothers had the pleasure of serving dinner to the Heroes and their guardians. The Heroes expressed their appreciation for being invited to attend a wonderful dinner. They feasted on a delicious dinner and an assortment of delightful desserts. The Heroes were also treated to a surprise visit from the MD Nurse Honor Guard. The Nurses arrived dressed as Florence Nightingale with a cape, white nursing caps, and with an oil lamp. The images of a caped Florence Nightingale roaming the dark halls of a military hospital with oil lamps aglow came to mind. The Gold Star Mothers – MD Chapter was also surprised with a $4,000 donation from the American Legion Post 60 and Sons of the American Legion Post 60. The Moms had a wonderful time serving dinner and spending time talking with the Veterans. It was a wonderful evening, and the smiles on the veterans’ faces were priceless! The Maryland Chapter Moms consider it a pleasure and honor to serve and support this wonderful service organization. Thank you, American Legion Post 60, for all you do for our Veterans.
