On August 6, 2024, Maryland became a Hidden Heroes State, proclaiming its support for veteran and military caregivers. Senator Elizabeth Dole was present when Governor Wes Moore signed Maryland up to be a Hidden Heroes State in partnership with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. Maryland Gold Star Mothers Janice Chance and Stephanie White and representatives from The Travis Manion Foundation attended the event that took place in the Governor’s Reception Room, at The Maryland State House. Governor Moore spoke and additional remarks were provided by Maryland First Lady, Dawn Moore, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller, Secretary of Veterans and Military Families Anthony Woods, and The Elizabeth Dole Foundation CEO Steve Schwab.
