Gift Bag Assembly for VA Medical Centers Hospitalized Veterans American Legion Post 60 Laurel, Maryland February 1, 2025

Maryland Gold Star Mothers Chapter members were joined by American Legion Post 60 Auxiliary members on February 1st to assist with assembling gift bags and backpacks for hospitalized veterans at the three Maryland VA Medical Centers: Baltimore, Loch Raven, and Perry Point. The Maryland Chapter members included Janice Chance, Paula Davis, Elsheba Kahn, Theresa Karlson, Lauren Siedler, Donna Robinson, and Mary Jane Walton.  The Auxiliary members included Leslie Brinton, Sherry Mills, Denise Person, Jeanette and Daughter, Peggy Purcell, Barbara Rhodes, Abbey Rigney, Nancy Slavinski, and Tris Thomas.

Gift bags and backpack items included toiletry bags, adult coloring books, colored pencils, word puzzle books, lip balm, and stuffed bears. A total of 260 gift bags were assembled for VA Centers, Baltimore, Loch Raven, and Perry Point.  The gift bags were distributed to our Heroes at all three Maryland VA Medical Centers for “National Salute to Veterans Week”, February 10-14, 2025.  Gold Star Mothers are grateful to Commander Josie Lohman, AL Post 60 Commander for allowing them to use the Post to have their bi-monthly meetings as well as a place to prepare for our service projects.  The members are also grateful to the Auxiliary members for their continued support.
