On December 21, 2013 on behalf of the Maryland Chapter mothers eight of our members delivered personal care items and clothing to the residents at the Maryland Center for Veterans Education & Training (MCVET). We were honored to meet and interact with many of the veterans who expressed their appreciation. We were delighted that we were able to bring some joy to the residents and we are looking forward to a continued relationship with the Veterans. Gold Star Mothers Remembrance service at the Naval Air Station in Patuxent Maryland. On September 27,2013 The Gold Star Mothers Maryland Chapter and other Gold Star
family members were invited to the Naval Air Station (NAS) in Patuxent River better known NAS Pax River which is located in St. May’s county Maryland. The senior leadership team held a special ceremony to commemorate “Gold Star Mother’s Day”.

On September 13, 2013 Lee Ann Doerflinger and Janice Chance assisted the Maryland Patriot Guard Riders organization with the distribution of personal care items,
household supplies, clothing, books, DVD’S, etc to the outpatient wounded warriors and their family members.
GSM’s meet with wife of Command Sgt Major at APG

The senior leadership at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) selected 3 GSM’s mothers and 1 GSW to meet with Mrs. Chandler, the wife of Command Sgt Major Raymond,
who was selected to serve as the 14th sergeant major of the Army. Donna Robinson, Cindy Lohman and President Janice Chance met with Mrs. Jeanne Chandler while her husband was making his official rounds at APG.
GSM’s and Patriot Guard Riders Visit Bethesda

On June 8, 2013 members of the Gold Star Mothers Maryland Chapter were invited to join the Patriot Guard Riders to serve the wounded warriors and their families at the
Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda during their annual cookout. We had 14 Gold Star family members to participate in this event along with a few

GSM’s Attend Tiffany Circle Chairman’s Dinner

On May 18,2013 six members of the Gold Star Mothers Maryland Chapter attended the American Red Cross Tiffany Circle’s Annual Chairman’s Dinner at the National Museum in Washington, DC. We had the honor of meeting and talking with many of the Active Duty Heroes that were also guest from a variety of Armed Services Branches in addition to interactingwith other special American Red Cross supporters. The Chairman, Mrs. Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, read the names of our fallen heroes and asked each mother to stand after the name was read. We received a standing ovation and were greeted warmly after dinner by many of the attendees. They had several excellent speakers and Trace Adkins was their featured musical guest.
“In Their Shoes” 5k run/walk

Gold Star Mothers were invited by Mrs. Cindy Fogleman US Liaison/Executive Director of the Iraqi Children Foundation to participate in their special fund raiser event “In Their Shoes” 5k run/walk on Saturday May 4, 2013. Kelly Swanson, friend Peggy, Janice Chance, Michelle Murphy, husband Kenmore, Children Kennisha and Kwesi participated along with many other patriotic concerned citizens and dignitaries (former Iraq Ambassador Samir Samaida’ie and US Ambassador Richard Schmierer) to raise support for Iraq orphans and street children. It was held at Burke Park in Fairfax, VA.
